South African born versatile singing sensation Priya Singh currently residing in Hong Kong has been away from the country for the past 5 years, but this has not deterred her from pursuing her singing career. Following the success of her pop-rock album Pyaar Rocks3 years ago,
Priya Singh has performed to several sell-out concerts in South Africa and her music continues to grow in popularity. Her music covers several genres including popular Bollywood golden oldies, romantic songs, pop-rock and the ever-popular South African ‘chutney’ style!
Singh has been performing as a vocal artist since the age of 10 and has featured in live concerts country-wide, and recorded for television as well as radio. She started off her singing career as a child star and with a lot of dedication she has certainly made it all the way to the top! She stole the hearts of many after winning the “Radio Lotus Impressions” song competition in 1992 at the age of 12 years and later won the same competition in 1998. This talented star gets regular coverage on national radio (Lotus FM) and various television channels across South Africa.
Singh has a new release which is refreshingly different to her previous 2 albums. During her visit to South Africa this August, Singh will release her latest single, a devotional track titled “Jai Jai Vigneshwara”, in praise of Lord Ganesha.
The song written and sung by Singh has music produced by her husband Mershen Ramaloo. The music on this album features an entourage of musicians from India, lead by Aabir Mukherjee (Music Supervisor for T-Series), assisted by Ravi Desad and talented Rajiv Bhatt who at the time of the recording was the lead keyboard player for one of India’s most popular playback singers, Sonu Nigham.
The album was recorded by the proficient Rahul Sharma at a Mumbai studio owned by renowned Indian sound engineer, Satish Gupta, a recipient of many IIFA Awards and other accolades.
Including in the production team are Mohit Shastry (Flute), Lalit Shankar (Dholak), Sanjiv Sen (Tabla), Surendra Belbansi (Percussion), Mr Shukla (Sitar) and Mershen Ramaloo (Harmonium)
Singh dedicates this bhajan in memory of her late uncles Jeff and Shane, her grandfather (Dada) and Krish Ramaloo
Singh has much to be thankful for in 2012 following the successful vocal cord surgery undertaken just 2 months ago in Hong Kong. Whilst the recovery process will result in Singh taking a break from the music scene over the next few months, fans can expect a come back show in early 2013 following her previous sell-out concerts in South Africa at Gold Reef Casino in 2011.
Musical duo, Mershen and Priya are excited about the upcoming release which is available now globally only on the following digital music down-load websites: www.cdbaby.com, www.itunes.com and www.amazon.com.
